Delayed Post: Dumpster Fire and Accident
Thursday (3/4), Box 59-4 was struck for a working dumpster fire next to a structure in the area of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Building. Engine 59-1 responded with a crew of three, in route chief 49 was in the area, he advised Dauphin County of a visible column. Engine 59-1 while in route confirmed the report as well. Engine 59-1 arrived on scene of a working dumpster fire along with Engine 55. Engine 59-1 crew extinguished the fire within a few minutes and did minor overhaul.
As both crews were cleaning up, Box 59-5 was struck for an accident with entrapment. Engine 59-1 along with Engine 55 behind them responded. Once on scene the crew had a vehicle into a dump truck that had overturned spilling the contents with no entrapment but with injuries. Engine 59-1s crew took the one vehicle while Engine 55 crew took the other. Both crews assisted EMS with patient packaging. Engine 59-1 was on scene for over an hour cleaning up the accident with penndot.
