Summer Storm brings Accident on 283

As Central Pennsylvania was getting hit with a large dangerous storm that produced hail and gusty winds. Dauphin County communications was getting bombarded with emergency calls. Box 59-5 was struck for an accident with injuries on PA 283 Eastbound. Rescue 59 was out with a crew of six in under a minute. Rescue 59 arrived on location with a rear end collision and the vehicle spun out off the roadway. Chief 59-2 (Brown) arrived and established command. Rescue 59 arrived and started patient care and checking for hazards. No hazards were found but had two injuries. The rescue crew broke off into two teams and assisted EMS with patient packaging of one person and the other crew then waited on another EMS unit to arrive for the other class three patient. The crew provided patient care until the other EMS unit arrived. The EMS unit arrived and transported the second patient. The Rescue crew stood by for the tow truck. Command placed the box in service minutes later. Crews were out for about an hour.
