Accident with Entrapment on the Pike

The first day of February started off with a winter storm that produced almost an inch of ice in most spots in and around Dauphin County. Around 11 p.m. that night, Rescue 59 was dispatched to eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike for an accident with confirmed one entrapment per turnpike crews on scene. Rescue 59 responded with five personnel and was advised that the eastbound lanes were not shut down; command 76 requested York 68 to be dispatched. Rescue and Engine 68 responded and arrived on scene confirming one vehicle in the right hand lane with one entrapped. Chief 55 took command 76 and Engine 55 and Rescue 59 arrived soon after and assisted with patient removal and clean up. The rescue was clear in about an hour after the call came in. Command 76 held the box to York 68 and Engine 55. The rescue returned without incident.

All the crews did a great job staying safe in the icy conditions.
