PA 283 Keeps Company 59 Busy This Weekend.
This weekend Company 59 along with other mutual aid companies were busy on Interstate 283 (N,S,E,W Bound). Company 59 started out early Friday evening with a five vehicle crash on PA 283 Westbound with one reported injury and a little clean up. No injuries were found and the crews were out for about 45 minutes before being released.
Saturday night, Company 59 along with Company 49 (Swatara Twp.) were dispatched to PA 283 North for a multi-vehicle accident with a vehicle rolled over. Chief 59-1 arrived on location with two accidents with a truck and trailer in the median and another three vehicle accident with one on its side. Rescue 59 arrived on location and started patient care with MICU 4-1 and fluid control. Engine 59 arrived on location taking the vehicle in the median with no injuries. Rescue 49 arrived on location and assisted the 59 crews with fund control and debris removal. After about an hour the vehicles were removed and command 59 placed the box in service.

Early Sunday Morning, Company 59 along with Engine 55 and Rescue 50 were dispatched to PA 283 again for a fuel spill. The call originally came in as a PA Turnpike incident but found to be a 59-5 box confirmed by Chief 55. Rescue 59 arrived on location with Engine 55 and Rescue 50, the crew found a saddle tank had been ripped open by a piece of debris on the roadway. The crew mitigated the leak and once the leak was controlled command requested a tow for the truck. Once the tow company arrived, Command 59 placed the box in service.
