Working House Fire in Middletown

Early Sunday morning, Box 88-3 was struck for a possible structure fire at 329 S. Catherine Street. The station was staffed and Engine 59 rolled immediately with an update that the police department was on scene with fire showing from the first floor windows. Chief 88 arrived confirming the report and establishing command 88. Chief 88 made a decision with the conditions present to hit for a full first alarm assignment bring in Rescue 59. Engine 59 arrived with Engine 88 taking water supply as Engine 88 laid a supply line to the scene. Engine 59 crew reported to Engine 88 as a second line was pulled by the 59 crew. The fire was darkened down from the outside to due to involvement being 100 percent on the first floor. Both engine crews made entry with an aggressive attack on the fire, a crew from 88 took first floor with the 59 units taking the second floor. Once most of the visible fire was knocked down, the crews started to open up the walls to check for extension. Rescue 59 arrived a few minutes after the engine with the crew sent immediately to work on the second floor finding some extension and eliminating that very quickly. At that time, most of the fire was knocked down and command marked control at 2:48 a.m. Once the fire was marked, command started to release units with Engine and Rescue 59 clearing after about an hour and a half of work.
