House Fire in the 4 Box

Friday Afternoon, company 59 along with mutual aid units were dispatched to the 1000 block of Rosedale avenue in the 59-4 for a possible structure fire. Engine 59-1 was on the street in minutes with a crew and was advised by Dauphin County Communications that the Police Department was on scene with smoke showing. Engine 59-1 arrived on location with a single story having smoke showing from the front door confirming the police department report. Chief 59-1 was right behind Engine 59-1 setting up command 59. The engine crew pulled a single handline to attack the fire. The crew located the fire in the living room area of the residence next to the chimney and knocked the fire down within five minutes. Truck 88 arrived on location taking side “A” of the structure throwing ground ladders and assisting interior crews with venting and searching of the missing animals. The 59 and 88 crews located the two missing cats and one ferret from the residence. Engine 55 arrived on location setting up a fan at the front door to pull the smoke from the house. After the house was vented and the fire marshal completed his investigation, command 59 placed the box in service. The crews were out for about an two hours. Great work by all crews involved.
