Hay Bale Fire on PA Turnpike for Engine 59

Thursday evening, Engine 59 was dispatched to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Eastbound to Assist York and Cumberland county units on a truck fire carrying hay bales. Engine 59 exited at mile marker 242 then proceeded westbound in the eastbound lane to arrive on location. The crew found the driver of the truck dropped hay for about a mile on fire making the situation a nightmare for commuters and firefighters on the scene. Engine 59s crew pulled a single CAFs (Compressed Air Foam) line to start extinguish the multiple piles of hay on fire. The crews were out for about 3 hours until being released by 76 command.
