Industrial Rescue in the 3 Box
On Wednesday Afternoon, Company 59 was dispatched to the end of Fulling Mill Road at the construction site for a traumatic injury. The report was a single occupant, rolled a piece of equipment down a bank and was injured. EMS arrived on location with a bulldozer that rolled down an embankment but is upright with a single occupant, severely injured. Utility 59 & FM 59 arrived on location confirming the report and setting up command 59. Command advised that manpower was needed and requested another rescue company to assist with extrication. Rescue 59 and 49 arrived on location with a total of ten personnel. As manpower arrived a plan was established to take the single patient out the rear of the dozer via stokes basket utilizing ladders. The on-scene construction mechanic removed the rear window and two doors to gain more access. Once EMS stabilized and packaged the patient, the crew started extrication. The extraction was completed in 20 minutes. Once the patient was in the care of EMS, command scaled the incident back to company 59 and 49. The crews were out for an hour.
