Meade Ave Confinement
This afternoon around 1300hrs, Company 59 and Rescue 88 were dispatched to RT. 230 at Meade Ave next to CVS for an accident with confinement. Chief 59-1 responded immediately and was updated that the Police Department was out on an accident with reported no injuries and requested EMS. MICU 4-1 arrived on location requesting the fire department to assist with extrication. Chief 59-1 arrived on scene with a two vehicle accident blocking the intersection with one patient confined setting up command 59. Rescue 59 and 88 responded within a minute of each other with Rescue 88 arriving first taking the first rescue responsibilities with stabilization and getting equipment ready. Rescue 59 arrived assisting the Rescue 88 crew with extraction. Captain 88-1 and LT. 59 had shared roles with operations as crews began removing the passenger side front and rear doors along with the “B” post. The extrication was completed in less than 9 minutes. Once both crews had equipment taken up, command placed fire units in service.
Fire crews were out for about 20 minutes.
