Busy Morning for the Daylight Crews
This morning, Engine 59-1 was dispatched to Frey Village Retirement Community for a fire alarm. Engine 59-1 arrived on location taking the Fire Department Connection. LT. 88-2 arrived establishing command 88 sending Engine 59-1s crew in to investigate. Engine 59-1s crew located a faulty detector in the elevator and the maintenance department already fixing the problem. Command held the box in Engine 59-1 placing the box in service minutes later.

An hour after the automatic fire alarm, Box 59-5 was struck for a motor vehicle accident with injuries westbound on PA 283. Rescue and Engine 59-1 responded and located the accident just after the North Union Street bridge with a vehicle over the embankment, patient self-extricated and in EMS care. The crew checked the vehicle for any hazards and none were found. Once the Pennsylvania State Police arrived on location, no fire services were needed command placed the box in service.

The third call of the morning came in the 49 box for a commercial structure fire. Engine 59-1 was placed in service prior to responding as the box was held to Swatara Township Units.
