Busy Week For Station 59
Lower Swatara Fire Department has been busy this past week. Monday started with preparation for deployment of 80 PA Forestry Firefighters to Alaska assisting with a large wildland fire. FDLS members also attended a Water Rescue Awareness class at our station that evening.
Tuesday brought the new Boat 59 to the station for inspection and emergency light placement. The project should be completed by August.
Friday was the start of a Water Rescue and Emergency Response class for our personnel. This course will enhance our members in water rescue as a person in the water craft doing the rescue.
On top of all this, the week has brought a bunch of various calls that included alarms, medical responses, and a working vehicle fire on Interstate 283 northbound.
Thanks to all the dedicated members that put countless hours into providing fire protection and service to our community.
